The best comparison uses identical information and requested limits for each provider. Start with the VIN, storage ZIP, year, make, model, value, use, drivers, annual mileage, financing status, and desired start date.
Prepare one accurate RV profile
Do not change limits or deductibles between options unless you clearly mark the difference. Disclose full-time, seasonal, rental, or business use so the provider can evaluate the correct risk.
Policy comparison worksheet
| Item | What to record | Why compare it |
|---|---|---|
| Annual premium | Record the full policy-term price and payment fees | Compare the same term and payment schedule |
| Liability limits | Bodily injury, property damage, and vacation liability | Minimum limits may not reflect the owner’s exposure |
| RV valuation | Actual cash value, agreed value, replacement cost, or stated amount | The wording can change a total-loss settlement |
| Comprehensive deductible | Standard and any special weather or glass deductible | Shows the owner’s cost for non-collision damage |
| Collision deductible | Amount per covered collision claim | A lower premium may come with a higher owner cost |
| Personal property | Limit, deductible, categories, and off-premises treatment | Standard limits may be below the value carried in the RV |
| Permanent equipment | Awnings, solar, generators, satellite equipment, and upgrades | Aftermarket additions may need documentation or added limits |
| Roadside assistance | Towing distance, tire service, locksmith, extraction, and trip interruption | RV recovery can require specialized equipment |
| Use and occupancy | Recreational, seasonal, extended, or full-time | Eligibility and available coverages can change with use |
| Key exclusions | Water intrusion, roof, wear, pests, business use, and unattended property | Exclusions show where otherwise broad coverage stops |
Questions to ask a licensed provider
- Which valuation provision appears in the policy, and how would a total loss be calculated?
- Are there special deductibles or restrictions for wind, hail, flood, glass, roof, or water damage?
- What changes if the RV is occupied for longer periods or becomes a primary residence?
- Which belongings and permanent upgrades need receipts, photos, appraisals, or scheduled limits?
- What towing equipment and trip-interruption benefits are included, and where do their limits end?
